US & Canada Tour. June 2016
Marcin Wasilewski Trio (Marcin Wasilewski – piano, Slawomir Kurkiewicz – double bass and Michal Miskiewicz – drums) will perform in North America with eight concerts in June this year, promoting their 4th ECM album „Spark of Life” (ECM Records/Universal Music Poland). A few months after its release, the album has received in Poland most of the jazz awards in 2014: Gold Album status just six weeks after release, Album of the Year, Acoustic Band of the Year in yearly readers poll of JAZZ FORUM Magazine, two “Polish Grammy” – the Fryderyk Award for Jazz Album of the Year. The leader Marcin Wasilewski received his eighth Fryderyk Award in Jazz Artist of the Year category.
The tour in the US and Canada includes concerts at the prestigious jazz festivals in Ottawa and Vancouver and in the famous Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. Three US concerts are the part of ”Jazztopad Presents”- a special edition of the Wroclaw’s festival Jazztopad that will present the best musicians of Polish contemporary jazz scene.
